Desk mat or desk pad?

Two words for the same thing. Desk pad tends to describe the smaller sizes that sit under a keyboard and mouse, desk mat the larger ones that cover most of the desk. We make both and call the whole range desk mats.

Choosing a size

The 16 by 32 inch mat is the full desk option: keyboard, mouse and space for a notebook, with the mat defining the whole working area. The 12 by 22 sits under a keyboard and mouse without dominating a small desk. The 12 by 18 is closer to an oversized mouse pad and suits a laptop setup where you mostly need a surface for the mouse and a place to write.

Why neoprene

At 3mm thick, neoprene gives just enough cushioning to take the hardness out of a desk without your wrist sinking into it. The anti-slip backing keeps the mat still while you type, which is the difference between a desk mat and a piece of printed fabric that creeps left all afternoon.

Edges and finish

The mat is sewn around all four edges, so it does not fray where a mouse crosses the border repeatedly. The print covers the full top surface.

Prints made to be looked at all day

A desk mat sits under your hands for eight hours, so we draw these prints softer than the same design on a phone case. Lower contrast, so a dark mouse stays findable and the pattern does not fight the screen in front of it. Every print is also available on the matching laptop sleeve and mouse pad.

Desk mat FAQ

Which size should I get?

16 by 32 for a full desk with keyboard and mouse, 12 by 22 for a compact keyboard and mouse setup, 12 by 18 for a laptop and mouse. All three are 12 inches deep or more, so a keyboard sits on the mat rather than half on it.

What sizes do you make?

12 by 18 inches, 12 by 22 inches and 16 by 32 inches.

Can I use it as a large mouse pad?

Yes. The 12 by 18 is the closest to an oversized mouse pad, and all three sizes work with any mouse that runs on a fabric surface.

Does it slide around?

No, the backing is anti-slip.

Is it thick enough to be comfortable?

It is 3mm neoprene, which softens the desk surface without being spongy under the wrist.

Will the edges fray?

The mat is hemmed on all sides to prevent that.

What is the difference between a desk mat and a desk pad?

Nothing, they are the same product. Desk pad is the more common word for the smaller sizes, desk mat for the larger ones.

How do I clean it?

Spot clean with warm water and dish soap, and use a soft-bristled brush on stubborn marks.
